He truly has nothing to offer Americans. He has very little background and or understanding of law or politics. He is a business man, yes, and some may argue that this is what America needs right now, because of our “crippling debt”, yet, he has also filed for bankruptcy numerous times — so, it may not be a good idea to let him handle all of our money either.

What is so bizarre to me is the fact that…this is a widely known and accepted fact. Is this nothing more than a popularity contest? Who can be the most entertaining?

I’ve heard conservatives make comments along the lines of, “he isn’t worried about political correctness” and “he is just saying what we’re all thinking”. What does that exactly reflect, though? That Americans are generally stupid, bigoted, racist and overall — bullies?

Well, I don’t think we need Donald Trump running for President to tell us that, now do we? When it comes to the international community, most residences of other countries believe this of us anyway.

Keep in mind that our presidential candidates more or less must find ways to appeal and relate to the public. Trump is doing just that. He is relating to the conservatism, to the patriotism of the American right-wingers.

An article on Psychology Today suggests there is more to it.

According to Dr. Vinita Mehta, “people prefer their leaders to have certain traits, such as deep voices and a tall stature. These characteristics convey dominance, which makes us feel protected. Mr. Trump embodies both of these physical qualities — but his popularity may be due to yet another attribute. To wit, narcissism. Though his supporters may disagree, The Donald has been referred to as a narcissist extraordinaire. The hallmarks of narcissism include grandiosity, overconfidence, arrogance, and an exaggerated sense of self-importance.”

So, what do you guys think?

Nnnnnnnooooooooo!!!!!!!

No Trump, no way, he is an abusive loudmouth. We need someone with at least 5 minutes experience in foreign policy.

Following the money trail (trying to elect Mit Romney), or just selecting a rich guy for prez--no. These people are good at making money that they keep, though everyone does give some. We need someone experienced in running a political administration.

If you can't tell, I think Trump is the worst thing that could happen to the presidency.

Well, we all know that the American president-generating system has been a puppetred popularity contest for many years now.

As in, people talk about Russia's government being rigged, or look at China, well look at how America is doing. You elect, and ensure that they win, the candidate that has or that can fake the type of personality that will make all the Americans overlook what their country is ACTUALLY doing, whether this is because the president is too stupid, or too charming, or too "like you", or is a black woman so you can spend all those years in office thinking America is the best because we elected a black woman!

The presidential speeches are empty of content, Obama for example is empty of empathy (from what very little I have seen/heard of him in quotes, especially ones that come after any bad event has happened) and there was all that stuff about his personal history being lies and him reading from teleprompters when supposedly talking about his own grandma and so on. I feel at this point that no matter who becomes president, if it wasn't rigged from the very beginning then the new president will get molded to whatever the guys behind the scenes want them to be...

Americans today don't really have any hope for the future, and most of them have no clue how the government even works. The news and education that's fed to them is full of propaganda and omissions. If people realized more about what was going on there would hopefully be big riots, maybe they would force a change in the way the government works...... /dreams on

I really feel like I come from a country under the Soviet Union or something sometimes.

I think money in politics is probably our biggest problem. Corporate funded politics. Corporate funded presidential elections. Money in journalism (news). Money in things there shouldn't be money in. Money in healthcare. Money in education.

What am I even talking about. Capitalism LOL

I found out that the ancient Incas I think it was, had "the most successful communism in known history - even the king was on (mostly) the same level as everyone else and everyone was fed and happy". It's not that I think capitalism itself is evil but the way it's being used is certainly evil...

I remember that I had some friends one time who were shocked when they found out that the campaigns for the US elections are allowed to A. be started so early, and B. use so much time and money. As in, in their countries, there were legal limits on that kind of thing.
