He truly has nothing to offer Americans. He has very little background and or understanding of law or politics. He is a business man, yes, and some may argue that this is what America needs right now, because of our “crippling debt”, yet, he has also filed for bankruptcy numerous times — so, it may not be a good idea to let him handle all of our money either.

What is so bizarre to me is the fact that…this is a widely known and accepted fact. Is this nothing more than a popularity contest? Who can be the most entertaining?

I’ve heard conservatives make comments along the lines of, “he isn’t worried about political correctness” and “he is just saying what we’re all thinking”. What does that exactly reflect, though? That Americans are generally stupid, bigoted, racist and overall — bullies?

Well, I don’t think we need Donald Trump running for President to tell us that, now do we? When it comes to the international community, most residences of other countries believe this of us anyway.

Keep in mind that our presidential candidates more or less must find ways to appeal and relate to the public. Trump is doing just that. He is relating to the conservatism, to the patriotism of the American right-wingers.

An article on Psychology Today suggests there is more to it.

According to Dr. Vinita Mehta, “people prefer their leaders to have certain traits, such as deep voices and a tall stature. These characteristics convey dominance, which makes us feel protected. Mr. Trump embodies both of these physical qualities — but his popularity may be due to yet another attribute. To wit, narcissism. Though his supporters may disagree, The Donald has been referred to as a narcissist extraordinaire. The hallmarks of narcissism include grandiosity, overconfidence, arrogance, and an exaggerated sense of self-importance.”
