5/10/17 - Shelter Update, Eligibility

Again, every time I decide to update LJ, I'm pressed for time. Thomas is 3-4 stops away on the train and I really wanted to get some writing in at Starbucks (and some internet therapy), but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Tomorrow though, I will definitely be putting in some type on the keyboard and on the web. I have a lot of things I want to get done before the end of the week.

First things first, we found out on Sunday that DHS found us eligible. What does that mean? Not much really, to be honest. All it means is that we don't have to worry about getting kicked out, losing our room, ect. It more or less means we have semi-permanent housing now. What's supposed to happen next is we eventually become transferred out. I can't say for sure what that means or how this next part is meant to go down, all I know is that there are people here who have been here for a year+. And, a lot of them have rental vouchers, and for some reason, aren't getting the hell out.

My goal is to more or less be ahead of the game. I am going to start bookmarking different resources on the web, making a list of phone numbers, ect. and try to become as familiar with the process as possible.

The only family that I have spoken to since arriving here already seem to be getting caught up in the culture and bullshit of this place. I kind of want to tell them, when I see them again, to not get caught up in what other people have to say, and just to focus on themselves. But, I also don't want to come off in the wrong way, either, you know?

Anyways, my goals for the rest of the week are, not particularly in this order:

Upload this to LJ

Send out mother's day card to my Mom

Submit 2 more articles to Hubpages

Write a nice mother's day e-mail for my Mom

Gather as much info on the LINC and SEPS programs (accumulate emails and #s)

Get our medications worked out (which I'm doing tomorrow)

Increase followers on Hubpages and Tumblr
