This is more or less the last day we are agreed to live in this apartment (according to our stipulation - but it's not like either side gives a shit about stipulations...), however, until a marshals notice is served, and 6 days have passed from the date stamped upon that notice, we cannot be evicted from our apartment. Now here's the trick: we can not actually enter a family shelter until a marshals notice has been served. Nor can we go back to court to request more time until we have a marshals notice. Neither can we qualify for many homeless prevention programs without first entering the shelter system (which requires us to again, have a marshals notice). The only other way to enter shelter is to give up our keys, which is not recommended. In short, we're basically strapped, and more or less waiting for the landlord to make the next move. All we can do at this point is to finish packing our belongings, clean out the apartment, while continuing to seek other transitional/supportive housing programs that I come across. Almost 99.9% of all programs I've come across cannot help you without a referral from DHS (Dept. of Homeless Services), which requires us to enter the shelter system, which AGAIN requires a marshals notice. When will he serve it? I have no idea. Some landlords wait a while, while others serve them immediately. Clearly immediately didn't happen to us.
We are, however, 95.5% prepared to leave immediately, if push comes to shove. We've downgraded all our belongings to luggage and a duffle bag. Worst case scenario, we're prepared to leave and enter a family shelter immediately. Best case, we avoid shelter all together, and get placement for housing. The only real concerns is Luna, and finding another internet provider such as Clear Wireless (for shelter). We haven't 100% closed the door on Tom's family. Although his Grandma has no room in her already crowded apartment, she may hold Luna. His Mom recently got her own place (again), but hasn't reached out to us with an interest of helping, only helping herself. Ex. asking for money, because there is absolutely no better time to ask your kid for money than when he and his wife are at risk of homelessness. I just don't get it.

And, so, our utilities are cut off. At first, I really didn't think this would be the problem of the landlord - I assumed it would be a problem of our utility company. Surprise, surprise - we have no unknown turn off notice on our account, nor is there any service issues in our area. So, it's the building. And, of course, I have absolutely no luck getting in touch with our Super all afternoon, evening and into the next Morning. I ended up spending quite a bit of money I didn't want to spend on eating out, buying batteries, and a light. I also purchased a $40 top up card for my phone, not knowing beforehand that I was only short a buck and some change to get my service back. Still, this is not a bad thing, because now I have a top up card when I need it. I ended up spending the day finishing packing and preparing for the worst. Not having lights doesn't bothered us, because we managed, it was probably not being able to have a steady charge for my phone in order to make vital phone calls, and also, having all of our food spoil. Still, we managed and we will manage.
Today, thanks to Juan, our Super, we got our lights and stove back up and running. Today I deep-cleaned the bathroom. The apartment is basically ready to be vacated. More or less, we only have to sort through the small dresser in the bedroom, and the box in the living-room. I've already had a good look at both. Neither will take more than 15 minutes, I presume, if even that. I also called my case worker, and made quite a bit of other calls. Amazingly enough, we managed really well through this outage.
Tonight, I'm going to see if Thomas can get in touch with his Mom and Grandma again and see what they say this time around. Tomorrow, my Mum is throwing me a little cash to help. If push comes to shove and we need a 1st month's rent, ect., we will have money for that.
Lastly, I caught a cold. AGAIN! This winter has been BRUTAL and I really think the stress is compromising my immune system. I really need to take it down a notch and relax. Tonight, I'm just going to take care of dinner, then play ESO and/or watch Netflix.
I took a cold & flu, Emergen-C, prenatal, and ate veggie chips, and for a moment there, I was feeling really legit. It's also cold as balls, so I can't be fucking around outside.
