Lifestyle Blog

What I REALLY wanted to mention is that I’ve decided to start a blog. Like a professional blog. Themed blog. I’m not going to stop doing this. I need this blog for brain dump. I’ve always kind of dreamed of being a full time blogger and I think it’s something I could do very well. I’ve thought about it but never really in a serious/professional way. I think now is really the right time to do this. Seriously, I want to go all the way with this. All. The. Way. I will do a lot of extensive research before I start because I want to do this right.
I have a few topics/themes in mind. Writing and frugal living are kind of my top picks. I think frugal living (in NYC) specifically aimed at younger people – minimal living in a big city type stuff, would make the most sense mostly because this is the stuff I occupy my time with the most and lifestyle type blog is what I would enjoy most doing. But, like I said, I want to do it right, and I want to be informed before jumping in.
I think in time, I would like to have 2 blogs. One lifestyle, and one writing blog.
Logically, it would make sense to start a writing blog because I already have sort of a brand and have been building it with my courses. I really need to think long and hard about this before making a decision.
In the meantime, I am going to pursue transcription and really put in the effort.
Luna is literally in my purse right now. Her head is just in there.

Date: 2016-01-22 10:29 am (UTC)As for monetary schemes, there's a lot of them out there but everything I've read says to stay away from stuff like Google Adsense. Project Wonderful works really well (it's individual people just like you who bid on adspace) but I don't know how well it works for blogs, I've always seen it used for webcomics though I know it's also used for other things.
Anyway the trick is to realize that most people don't actually give a shit whether you write a lot and in detail, or not. There are people out there who will really appreciate your informative, accurate writing - but if you ever get replaced by someone who does 5% as good of a job as you, no one is going to complain (yeah it was like that with me). So the standards of the average person actually aren't high and you should just write about what you like without worrying about that.
The other thing is, a TON of people are making money these days by youtube videos. There are channels where all people do is open packages and tons of people sit there and watch them, giving them money via hitcounts. And the key seems to be to upload videos fairly often, once a week or more.

Date: 2016-01-22 11:31 am (UTC)When it comes time to look into ad revenue I will bother you for sure because I feel like I would totally mess up there.
As for the content, I get that. I mean, really, a lot of the information I will be sharing is information other blogs are sharing too. I mean, there will be a lot of first hand/personal experience and my own fresh ideas, but ultimately, this won't be "new" content. I plan to just write what I want to write, how I want to write it, and just be me.
Oh dudeee yeah, youtube is NUTS but I am totally camera shy!
