Other stuff that isn't that stuff
Nov. 18th, 2016 06:37 amTbh, it's that stuff, in the previous post, that I really need to buckle down on. I really need to make a bigGER effort to get legal help and to get financial help. At the same time, I feel like I've really let myself get disorganized. I stopped using my planner for a few weeks and BAM, shit's all fucked up again. AND again, I've lost so much focus. I've probably said this before, but FUCK, it's so hard to get shit done if I don't really take the initiative to organize.
I haven't posted anything on my blog, or even on my social media accounts, for probably...3 weeks now. I am determined to change that this weekend. I want to put together a meal plan because it's been a really long time, and maybe tips for an affordable thanksgiving feast. I wanted to post a reaction to the 2016 Presidental election, but fuck that. LOLLLLL.
Tbh, I've been hella focused on ESO for the last 2-3 weeks. I wish I could say differently. LOL. But, I've built new toons, and I'm basically starting from scratch. Clean slate. I got a new toon I'm working on right now that I feel so good about for PVP. I've actually starting to really enjoy PVP. It was popping a few nights ago. Lots of action, lots of kills.
I've just been sick/ on the rag for a week and the hormonal rebalancing stacked on top of my immune system doing overtime is just fucking me all up. Every time I take the nighttime cough medicine, I pass out for 12-15 hours at a time! I'm only now starting to feel better. My period is almost over too (I think.) It's probably at a light-medium flow right now, however, I'm noticing a lot of blood clots. This is my first LEGIT ovulation cycle in a long time, and I want to watch it like a hawk. I just downloaded the Ovia Fertility app which is overall a fantastic app for any woman who wants to track everything health-related. You can log emotions, food, exercise, to things like vaginal discharge and results of a pregnancy/fertility test. I will make the best of it. I can also take an ovulation test when I am scheduled to ovulate.
I feel like I should really pat myself on the back. LOL. I've been increasing my folic acid intake which is essential for reproductive health. I found out a few weeks ago that farina / hot cereal (cream of wheat) is SO MUCH better for you than oatmeal (especially for women). It's even FDA approved as infant cereal - I had no idea. Did you know cream of wheat is highly recommended for pregnant and nursing moms because it's also enriched with folic acid? As someone who has endometriosis, and is both anemic and lactose intolerant, I can use all that extra folic acid, iron, and vitamin D.
Two weeks of this shit...Boom. Full blown period. This might not seem like a big deal, but you're supposed to have your period. LOL. Hormonal imbalances can really fuck with other aspects of your health and wellness.
I read this article (http://natural-fertility-info.com/period-blood-clots.html), however, I don't know how accurate this information is and it's still probably best I see an OBGYN. Which I've been saying. Which also reminds me, I need to renew my insurance already! I got a call not that long ago that it was no longer active - uh oh. This is what I get, though. In 2 hours, I'm going to check out https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/ and see if I can get my insurance back up and running. Probably going to stick with Healthfirst // Medicaid Managed Care plan since I'm already somewhat familiar with it, you know? And, I know I can use the same Hospital network which should be most efficient when it comes to transferring medical records.

Date: 2016-11-18 10:00 pm (UTC)now i've got proof that my bad eyesight is in part from diet - 2 years on this diet and what happened when i took an eye exam? both eyes were some amount better!! it'll be interesting to see how it is 10 years from now...
i try to turn all my gaming into "learning", ex now i'm playing pokemon sun/moon but in japanese. that way even if i play the whole day it's not actually a waste (and anyway it's usually too tiring to play all day). but i'm not really a game fanatic either, in general the older i get the less media i consume because i'm just studying/talking to people instead...
did you ever get access to your book? or maybe you want to write a new one real quick ;D

Date: 2016-11-20 11:07 am (UTC)Oatmeal here has nothing in it at this point :/ When I look at the label. It's like empty. LOL. I was checking out the bag I have, and honestly, I can't believe we eat it...just because the commercials tell us it's "heart healthy" or whatever.
What's so weird is that I was not lactose intolerant until I moved here. I'm beginning to wonder if it has more to do with the dairy products HERE.
Yeah, I'm not too sure about the anemia. Not enough iron in my diet. I'm not sure if it's my body that isn't absorbing the iron, or that I am not getting enough. Or a mix of both. It also runs in the family. For my mom, it used to make her faint on her period. Crazy right? I'm assuming from blood lost. She had INSANELY heavy periods. She used to have to stay home because it would make her feel very weak, dizzy and lightheaded.
I'm so glad your eyesight is improving!

Date: 2016-11-20 02:27 pm (UTC)Yeah but like, it doesn't sound like your parents eat healthy either... Also, the daily nutrition "requirements" are wrong, in reality you can (and should) get much more of everything except for basically shit food like sugar, as in other cultures are/were getting 5x as much nutrients as us daily. But the only way to do that is to stop with the processed foods and start with the fermented foods and offal and things.
As for commercials, well, they do stuff like advertise something is whole-wheat and it's only 10% whole-wheat. Or that it's a healthy breakfast cereal for adults, yet it's just twice-baked white flour with the same amount of sugar as Captain Crunch. They'll do anything for your money, they don't care about your health (same for, generally speaking, the whole country and the whole "western" medical industry).
I've had a few friends with anemia who had the same symptoms but they also ate like shit (well, almost everyone in the Americas/Europe eats like shit) and even though I tell people all I know about diet the only person I've managed to convince to actually do anything has been my wife... everyone say, cuts down on white flour for a week "yeah I feel better!" but never goes on to soaking their flour or cutting out sugar for example, then after a time they always bounce back to their old ways because this type of food is literally drugs to your body, it's heavily addictive, if you don't cut it out completely you'll go back.

Date: 2016-11-20 03:13 pm (UTC)Yeah, none of my family members eat well, and I'm pretty sure that has a lot to do with hereditary health problems. For example, even the "traditional" cultural meals my Grandma would cook...well it's so heavily seasoned with table salt and other processed ingredients that she didn't use...50 years ago.
Not only is it passed down at birth, but more often than not, there is little to no change in diet from generation to generation. My parents, for example, lived through the processed food craze and their diet is probably 10x worse than mine (and mine still needs a lot of work) and I really do think their health is far worse because of it. When I was growing up...I honestly ate mostly canned foods, meat, and rice. They still only eat that. I do realize that access is a huge roadblock, but if anyone really wanted to make improvements, they could do it. They could make it work. Work with what you have, ect. Start some where. Ect.
It's really hard to get people to change their diet...it's really hard as is, and you really need to want to do it and be dedicated to a lifestyle change. Eating is such an experience (often emotional) for me and I imagine it's fairly the same for most people. Some days I do really well. Some days I do really bad. And others, I barely eat anything. LOL. It's super hard for me to force myself to eat when I don't want to. Even if my stomach is GROWLING, I can't do it. It's like my body wants to hurl. Wouldn't be surprised if it's some kind of mild eating disorder.
IMO, I don't think it's *so hard* to stay away from white flour and/or processed sugars...unless you're eating bread, pasta, and box cereals every day? Not all the food in the world are those things. It's definitely a culture problem... I think a lot of Americas eat those foods on a regular basis.
Like, for me, I gotta REALLY be in the mood for it. I eat quite a bit of meat and veg. LOL. Organic when I can. I really like yogurt and kefir. When it comes to dairy, I can tolerate it... and it actually REALLY helps.
It was a process to get here. My simple rule of thumb is just to avoid the middle of the grocery store as much as possible. LOL. When I have like $10 to last a week, I do stock up on lentils, rice, and oats and will basically eat only that until I have money again. Better than instant/packaged ramen...which I know is super common "poor people food" in the states. Vienna sausage is too. That used to be like CRACK to me. Nowadays, I can't tolerate it...tastes so bad. LOL. Gives me a stomach ache almost instantly.
Weirdly, though, I have a friend who went through dietary changes with me, and even after cutting out a lot of processed foods, she still loves the taste of it, whereas, for me, it's the opposite. I might GET A CRAVING, but after a bite, I can't do it.

Date: 2016-11-20 04:04 pm (UTC)Well 90% of food at the grocery store, even here in Sweden, has:
1. White (or generally unsoaked) flour
2. Unsoaked beans, nuts, seeds
3. Sugar, sugar replacements (stevia, aspartame)
4. Concentrate (fruit juice, maple syrup, liquid smoke etc)
5. Is pasteurized
Now that I've quit eating them I get sick from ALL those things. Maybe not puking-sick, but at least "can't sleep" or "stomachache" sick.... but when I haven't slipped up (it's really easy to assume you'll be okay when trying a new food/brand) I feel the best I've ever felt in my life, so... and I wonder how I'll feel once I'm out of this house and don't have the stress of my wife's parents around!
I can't have too much kefir because we can only buy grocery-store milk (low-pasteurized) but it's definitely great! I read a bunch of stuff about how your stomach bacteria changes your mood/mindset...
Yeah when trying to get my wife to quit sugar we had a deal, no sugar for 3-4 months then she could pig out and eat whatever she wanted after that and I couldn't complain. When the time came around, her favorite chocolates tasted disgusting to her, "like sugar and fat, not like chocolate". Now as time's gone on she's decided that stuff like coconut oil tastes exactly like cream buns and dates taste like candy.
