My planner has blank pages in the back + a little envelope pocket-thing where you can put extra bits of paper in if you want. I also write on the old pages that I didn't use for writing down assignments and whatnot.

I write down my goals, doctor's appointments and homework. Or my progress on my goals, ex. I'll mark down how many kanji I learned that day.
